Tiger Woods Wins Again at Doral

The World Golf Championship is soon going to be called the Tiger Golf Championship. No matter the format or where the tournament's played, Tiger Woods seems to always be on top. With a not so impressive performance on Sunday at Doral, Woods won his 13th World Golf Championship in only 24 tries and let the golf world know once again who the man to beat is. While Tiger might not have had his best round on Sunday, he made enough shots to keep the rest of the field at arm's length. It was Tiger's 39th victory in 42 tries when he holds at least a share of the lead entering the final round. His 1-over 73 was done in typical Tiger style. With the lead, the world's best player has traditionally been hard to beat because he simply makes pars while the rest of the field falls apart. That was the case again on Sunday.
The win gave Woods his sixth win in the tournament, all of which have come on different courses. It put another feather in his hat, as he became the first player to pull off such a feat. The final round itself was an uneventful one. No player was able to get within four shots of Woods until the 16th hole when fellow final grouper Brett Wetterich made a birdie. Still, the windy conditions at Doral's Blue Monster made it difficult for anyone to mount a charge.
The best score of the final round belonged to Robert Allenby, whose impressive string of birdies on the opening nine had some thinking that he could make a run at Woods. He finished with a 5-under 67, which was good enough for a final score of 6-under. It was him and a few others who were just playing for second, a common occurrence in the Tiger Woods era.
The win for Woods puts him back into quite a groove heading into next week's Masters tournament. After taking a couple of big scores on the final nine of last week's tournament at Bay Hill, some wondered if Woods might have lost a bit of his swagger. He set out to remove that doubt and did so with a performance that blew the field away. Though he was not at his absolute best on a difficult day, he showed once again that even without his best game, Tiger is still head and shoulders above everybody else.
