This is the worst guide ever. It's full of made up "facts". Including the water bit. They need water, especially tropical breeds that need humidity.

I have a tarantula as a pet and she goes almost eyerwhere with me. I have long hair and she likes to ride on the back of my neck underneath my hair. As for food I just go outside and get crickets, rolly pollies, roaches, flys etc.etc. I put her in her cage (just a box with holes in it and a cotton ball soaked with water) at night so I don't accidently step on or roll over on her, otherwise she has the run of the house during the daytime when she is not with me.

This person clearly doesn't have a clue as to what he is talking about. As posed to writing a factual paper on tarantula's he wrote a clearly biased one that seemed to discourage you from even getting one in the first place. One, if your spider DID escape, he difinitly would not be out and about terrorizing the neighboorhod. Two, you dont have to have a nylon lid for your enclosure, tarantulas aren't going to try and climp to the top and chew through it they're not rats. And three, tarantulas will eat more then simply crickets. They can take lettuce and some of the larger ones also eat mice or mice innards. And four, it is VERY important to have a little area to contain water for the spider, as it helps keep up the humidity and they can die with out it. Stupid fuck.

Are you retarded or something? It seems like your deathly afraid of tarantulas........when they are extremely gentile.......like every statement you made was like.....if you decide to feed your pet make sure you do it with no one insight for 5 miles because he could escape and go on a killing spree endangering everyone...................but i would like to let everyone know not to listen to this guy and not discourage anyone because tarantulas are very gentile creatures even tho some you need to be much more cautious with.....but get a very gentile one such as the rose tarantula and you have a great pet!!
