Cats make great pets. Most of them are cuddly and are very adorable. However, when it comes to cat litter, every positive thing that can be said about cats is obliterated. Truly, dealing with cat litter can be quite chaotic and downright unpleasant. Imagine yourself tired from work or busy reading books or watching your favorite television show, and then all of a sudden you have to attend to your cat's wastes. Cat manure is filthy, smudgy, and evil-smelling. This means you do not have much choice but to take care of the mess as soon as you can; otherwise, the stink and the septicity will permeate inside your home. Unfortunately, there are only a few ways to clean up cat litter. One, you can clean up the litter yourself. Or two, you make use of one of those self-sanitizing litter boxes available in the market, which are both pricey and unenduring.
But a third approach in dealing with cat litter is becoming increasingly popular. More and more cat owners are training their pets how to use the toilet bowl. Yes, it is possible to train your cat on how to use your very own toilet, and this alternative, if done right, will make your cat litter problems go away in a flush almost just like how humans do.
The main requirement you need to have when you finally decide to train your cat for the toilet bowl is patience and time. Start potty training your cat slowly; there is a need for some adjustment period on the part of your cat to finally appreciate the intricacies of the ceramic can. There are two phases involved in training your cat how to use the toilet bowl.
First, you have to teach your cat how to get used to going to the toilet. So initially, you have to put the litter box right beside the toilet seat, this gets the whole concept of toilets get into your pet feline's instincts. When your cat is already getting used to going to the toilet to answer the call of nature, slowly raise the litter box, one level each week, until it approximates the height of the toilet bowl. At this level, your cat must already be accustomed to going to the toilet.
