Tips for Pregnancy Bed Rest
There is no set recipe for what's going to happen when you're pregnant. Things may not go as smoothly and perfectly as we would like it to go. For example, I have a friend who after the seventh month of pregnancy was required to stay in bed. Her doctor was concern that if she continued to remain active that she could endanger herself and the baby. The only thing she could do while on bed rest was go to the bathroom and take a shower. This was difficult for her because she had three other children to take care of she had her own hobbies in the evening such as bowling. She wasn't sure how she was going to handle in the next few months but wanted to make sure that they safety of her unborn baby came first. Her and I brainstormed some ideas as to what she could do while on bed rest. The following are some tips that helped her through the last few months of pregnancy.
Have friends and family visit. This is a wonderful way to continue socializing with others is let everyone know to come see you. Her and I would have a girl's get together once a week that would include a potluck and some game. It was a fun time and usually lasted about three hours of time.
Do some reading. Reading is a wonderful way to pass the time. Get several good books. Have a friend or a family member pick those books up for you at the bookstore or local library.
Develop a hobby that you can do right in your bed. I asked my friend if she had any hobby that she would like to learn or already do that involves sitting. She told me about a year ago she started crocheting a blanket but never got it done. She saw bed rest as a perfect opportunity to get back into it.
Create a baby journal. In the journal you can talk about your experiences so far as a pregnant mother. Make sure you write done the positives of being pregnant such as feeling the baby kick and seeing the ultra sound for the first time.
