When you think of the two words British and Pop, some would instantly envision Simon Cowell, from American Idol Fame, but those of us a little older than that would certainly think of the multi-talented, amazing. . . Sir Elton John.

Sir Elton John decided to spend his time and efforts celebrating his 60th birthday this year at Madison Square Garden this Sunday. This performance at the Garden for John raised his self held record for the most appearances at the storied venue.

John was dressed to the nines donning rose tinted sunglasses and a black tail coat. Sitting in his most comfortable spot at the piano, he played over 30 hit songs beginning with "Sixty Years On", after being introduced by former President Bill Clinton.

John's career has spanned over four decades with 59 shows at the Garden. "I knew I had 59 shows here and I said the only place I wanted to be was in New York City at Madison Square Garden," John said. Before ending the three hour long performance, he thanked the crowd filled with supporters and friends for their "loyalty, love and support."

Being a long time veteran of Garden performances, John recalled two of his favorite concerts at the venue. The September 11th concert after the bombing of the World Trade Center building, as well as a 1974 performance with the late John Lennon. Of the Lennon performance John said, "I have never heard a reception for anyone like that in my life."

When it came time for the traditional version of "Happy Birthday", things just weren't the same. Famous comedian's Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams, took over the stage to sing the infamous song. Together they told the audience, "There is nobody [we] have more respect and love for than him."

The concert became sentimental when John dedicated "Something About The Way You Look Tonight" to his partner David Furnish, whom he wed in a marital ceremony in December of 2005.

Sir Elton John, who was originally for Reginald Dwight, did not don his normal outrageous stage costumes bringing jokes from Robin Williams. This is "a man who used to make Liberace look Amish."
