Angelina Jolie's Adoption of Pax Thien Turns Messy

Stunning actress and philanthropist, Angelina Jolie has run into a slight adoption snag. The latest addition to her family, three year-old Pax Thien has a history that might cause the actress and mother of four, some problems...

PAX'S BIRTH MOTHER

It has been reported from Britain's News of the World newspaper, that Pax Thien's birth mother is a heroin addict. Per reports, the child's mother, Pham Thu Dung has had ongoing issues with the drug. It is claimed that she left her son behind in the hospital while he was only two days old, seriously ill, and extemely underweight. Furthermore, doctors feared that the child would be plagued with heroin addiction as a result of his mother's drug abuse.

Apparently unable to pay the $20 medical bill associated with the child's care, Dung left little Pax's legal guardianship to the boy's grandparents by abandoning him at the hospital.

"Our daughter is a heroin addict and her life has been ruled by drugs," Pax Thien's grandfather, Chien said in a statement to the Britain news publication.

It is also reported that Pham Thu Dung became pregnant with Pax as a result of an affair she was having with a married man. His grandparents, unable to care properly for the child sent him to Ho Chi Minh City's Tam Binh orphanage, where actress Angelina Jolie is said to have met the boy.

MORE PROBLEMS...?

Since Pax's grandparents are the ones who signed Pax's adoption papers, they are concerned that Dung will hear of the adoption and cause problems for Jolie and her family.

Said Chien of Jolie's adoption:

"When she find out a rich movie star has adopted her baby, she will go after her for money and make trouble."

Moreover, the grandparents fear that Pham Thu Dung will attempt to regain custody of her son, and insist that Jolie return the boy to Vietnam. Chien also states that shortly after it was made known that Jolie intended to adopt Pax, Dung (still hooked on heroin) disappeared. Thus, the grandparents signed the adoption papers, claiming not to know where Pax's mother was located.

A sister of Dung's agrees that Pham Thu Dung is "desperate to see her son" and believes that Dung will indeed try to regain custody.
