Research shows that people who take naps three times a week cut their risk of heart disease by slightly over a third giving them an edge over people who choose to wait till bedtime to get any sleep. Even workers who take a nap every once in a while cut their risk of dying from heart illness on average by 64 percent compared to co-workers who never nap.

It's thought that naps alleviate stress and help relax the heart. To the reverse, a person with heart disease may take naps to keep from having a full-blown heart attack. Constricted arteries & veins will widen and allow more blood & oxygen to flow through them. If there is blockage the person may take frequent naps several times a day.

Besides taking naps to give your heart a break, marijuana may be another alternative boost to slow an overworked heart down. Marijuana has long been praised for its effectiveness in keeping food down in Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and for those with HIV. By helping with nausea and giving patients the munchies they can regain strength through nutritious food they otherwise might have had to receive through intravenous therapy.

Anyone who has ever smoked marijuana is mellower. Everything slows down. They may chill out on the couch and never leave the house except for a food run. Complete opposites of their fellow counterparts, the alcohol drinkers. Users of marijuana may be spared of heart disease and death by heart disease by giving their heart a chance to rest while they are completely awake. Constricted arteries & veins will relax and the heart won't have to pump so hard trying to push oxygen & blood through.

Marijuana is being looked at right at the moment for its pain relieving properties. As found in recent studies, it gives the same amount of relief to sufferers as oral pain medications without the rejection some suffer from not being able to tolerate it. Oral pain medications can make you queasy. The study found that day to day pain was reduced by 34 percent.
