So, unfortunately, you are now facing one of the cruelties of owning a corn snake...separation. You've lived what you've always feared. You've jumped to great your special little friend to find an empty cage. He/she is nowhere to be found.Owning a corn can be an exciting and yet depressing thing. Exciting because you grow attached and get to know your newest - buddy reptile; depressing because they're sneaky little creatures that are known for breaking out of their cages, thus leaving you cold in the dark.
Sadly, catching a corn is easier said than done. There's really no guarantee of satisfaction in the end. All I can give you are a couple different ideas for catching your corn.
Before I give you my few suggestions for catching your little buddy please note the below and make sure that you have almost if not all.
Search the cage top to bottom. Move all, if any, décor from the cage. Turn bedding over to check if he/she is there.
Look all around the cage: on the floor, any thing that may be lying around the cage, and so on. Clear out the entire room that the snakes' cage is located in. This involves moving furniture, clothes, décor, anything and everything. Make sure to check any sofa cushions or similar items before seating yourself.
Still no luck? Then now it's time to use these trapping and tracking suggestions. (Remember, there is no guarantee you will find your snake(s). These are helping suggestions.
1st - Try laying some flour or corn starch on your flooring. Some people lay it only in door ways, but you can lay it where you want, how you want it, and how much you would like to have. This all depends on you.
By using flour or corn starch, you can track your snakes' whereabouts. His/her trails will be all through the flour or corn starch. This will give you an idea of what rooms to look in.
When and if you see snake tracks throughout the flour or corn starch, follow them to see if you can find the snake. If you fail to find the snake the first time you can always start over. Keep doing this for a couple days.
