YMCA Camp Pinewood
Twin Lake, Michigan

If your children are ages 7-17 then this is a great camp for them to attend. They offer one and two week summer camps for both boys and girls. They also offer a short winter camp for them winter breaks. Your camper will be stationed inside one of the 16 heated cabins, each with 10
children. Boys and girls have separate washrooms located in the middle of the cabins. All the campers meals are prepared on site and they are served in the dining hall where all the children will all eat together. This camp has been around since 1925 so you know something must be good in order for it to be opened that long.

Many activities are offered here. No matter how picky your child may be I can bet there is something here that they will just love to do. Swimming is one of the favorites of all the campers. Don't worry if your child hasn't learned how to swim yet. They can take lessons here and learn before the go home. All the lifeguards on duty are certified by the American red cross and are available for lessons. If they don't like swimming but would like to be near the lake then they can learn how to fish. Lake Echo is home to many fish including perch, large mouth bass and a variety of sunfish. Boating is another favorite of the campers. At Pinewood they offer many types of boats including canoes, rowboats, paddle boats, fun yaks and sea kayaks. All campers are required to wear a provided life jacket no matter how experienced they are.

If your child is just not a fan of water then that's okay, there are plenty other things he/she can do. Nature hikes are something the campers enjoy doing. During the hikes the campers will learn outdoor skills such as building fires and shelter.

In addition to these there is also climbing the 24 foot wall, archery, horseback riding, mountain biking, rope courses, arts and crafts, drama classes and sports.
