"Cause it's the PICK of destiny child!"...This is what comes to mind whenever I hear the movie title. And I'll admit it was the song that made me want to see this film. I, however, am a Tenacious D fan. I respect their work and Jack Black knows how to get an audience all revved up with no place to go (Meatloaf plays Black's father). If you've heard this song and understood the lyrics, there is no doubt in my mind that you won't have to see this movie.

"In Venice Beach, there was a man named Kage
When he was buskin' he was all the rage.
He met Jables and he taught him well,
all the techniques that were developed in hell.
Cock pushups and the power slide,
geek simulation now there's nowhere to hide.
They formed a band they named Tenacious D,
and then they got the Pick of Destiny.

The wizard and the demon had a battle royale,
the demon almost killed him with an evil kapow,
but then he broke his tooth and thus the demon said ow."

That, folks, is the movie in a nutshell. At the opening of the movie I thought it was going to be a rock opera very similar to The Who's "Tommy" but instead there was actual dialogue after Jack Black as a youth moved out of his father's (Meatloaf's) house. I was virtually blown away at the beginnning but then the stoner mode kicked in when Jables, Jack Black's character, ate some 'shrooms. This is where his fascination with Sasquatch comes in.

There were several cameo appearances done by Ben Stiller and Tim Robbins who added much amusement to the film. And I don't want to say I didn't like this movie because of Kyle Gass because he was probably a major reason why I didn't like this movie very much. However, he's a fantastic classical guitarist and I feel he should stick with his talent and stay OUT of acting. He didn't graduate Juilliard at the age of 13 for nothing!
