Summer Camps Are No Longer for Just Kids

Summer is coming and there are many things for both kids and adults to do. There are those who send their kids to camps for at least 2 weeks out of the summer. This is good for them in many ways. I have found some quite unusual camps for both kids and adults.

#1 http://www.computercamps.com/summer/computer_camps.html-this is perfect for kids who love technology. This is or kids 8-17 years of age and all levels, beginners to advanced, one computer per camper. There are two week sessions with over 20 workshops (3 per session) available covering everything from gaming to programming. Camps are located on suburban campuses in Illinois, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Cost starts at $2,245 for one 2 week session ($250 due at registration).

#2 http://www.nccamp.com This one week day or residential camp covers everything about computers and video programming that one can imagine including web page building and various computer languages. Scouts (both boy and girl) can earn a computer badge. The staff is on location 24/7 and references from previous campers are available. Prices range from $745-945 with a $200 fee if a camper wishes to stay the weekend between sessions. The website has much more information on it.

#3 http://www.kidscamps.com this website is a search engine for virtually any camp available. It has listings for everything from Asthma camps to various religious camps including Mennonite and Quaker camps. This site is also one to check out if you are looking for work at a kid's camp.

Below are some retreats for adults

#1 http://www.healthretreats.info this one is a health retreat for women. It is in Hawaii and is for healing many things: Abuse recovery for all kinds of abuse (4 weeks minimum recommended), divorce recovery, grief recovery, and weight loss management. In addition multiple programs can be combined into one retreat. Cost $850 (3-day) -$6000 (4 week). Check out their website for much, much more information.

Man! I wish I had time to go to a writing camp, or a computer programming camp. Sounds like fun (or at least educational!)
