How romantic would it be to march down the aisle towards your groom to the sound of the wedding march played by a single violin? How much better would it be to be marching to that violin m
usic on a beautiful beach? Such was the scene of our beautiful beach wedding in 2001.
A lot of couples are choosing to plan destination weddings these days. Many choose fabulous tropical beach destinations such as Hawaii or Jamaica. The planning and expense that goes into this type of wedding can be costly. My husband and I were fortunate enough to live on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast with a beach at our fingertips, on which we chose to get married.
Because it was a second wedding for us both, we wanted to keep the event a small one with a few family and friends. We did not care about extravagance, pomp and circumstance, and formality. This choice actually made it more difficult to come up with wedding plans. I believe it was my husband's insistence that he did not want to wear a tuxedo that prompted the idea of a beach wedding. Specifically, a spectacular sunset wedding on the beach in front of the Biloxi lighthouse on the Gulf of Mexico.
If you are near a beach, you should consider planning your wedding closer to home instead of a faraway destination. Many resort areas have some type of wedding chapel and planning service that will be very glad to help you plan your dream wedding. Fortunately, I found the Seacoast Wedding chapel in Biloxi that helped plan all the details of our wedding. There are some things you should know when planning a beach wedding.
