Everything You Need to Know About Driving from Wisconsin to Florida
1300 miles. 22 hours. That's the driving distance from Wisconsin to sunny Orlando, Florida and it's one road trip you'll be unlikely to repeat unless you have the endurance and courage of an Olymp
ic athlete-or at least close to it. On a recent relocation from the frigid February in Wisconsin, to a jump into summer in Florida, the encounters brought to light some well-learned driving lessons. Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida are the five states to look forward to. If you venture into this type of road trip anytime soon, here's everything you need to know about driving from Wisconsin to Florida.
The first item to be prepared for: radio culture shock. If you plan to travel through each state in one nice long stretch (not recommended), tune into the radio stations along the way for your taste of local culture. In Illinois, you'll find the standard Midwestern lineups;, hip-hop, rock, jazz, country-a nice assortment. As you approach Kentucky, keep those ears pricked for strong bluegrass tunes-this is just the warmup for the world of country music dead ahead. Tennessee is one long eight-hour trek, so be prepared for everything gospel no matter what time of day. You'll tune into country blues, country hits, country oldies, and even country-style rap on every single station. If you hit the evening hour, expect to be entertained by the pastor with sermons on the hour. Georgia is a slight change of pace; you'll still find plenty of bluegrass and country hits to keep those toes tapping, but expect a little southern hip-hop and rap in the mix. Florida brings some fresh new flavors; a little Caribbean and reggae pop up on the AM station, and those sermons are likely reserved for Sundays.
