Falls Mills, West Virginia Bulltown Campground/ Historical Area

A Place that You Will Not Forget

Growing up I always looked forward to summer time. My family always went camping at Bulltown. I have visited other campsites throughout the years, but this one is the best by far. Falls Mills is a great little town, off the Flatwoods exit. In Flatwoods not only do you have a outlet mall, but there is some interesting history of a "UFOs" that landed there. It is dubbed the home of the "Green-Eyed Monster". And Falls Mills gets its name for the beautiful natural waterfall that is there.

Now to get to Bull Town here are some directions:

If traveling north on Interstate 79:

Exit from Interstate 79 at Flatwoods Exit (Exit 67).

Turn Right at the intersection after exit ramp.

At the traffic light, turn Left on US 19 North.

Travel approximately 10 miles, through the community of Napier and across the Little Kanawha River (Burnsville Lake).

Look for a sign reads Bulltown Campground/Historical Area (Millstone Road) on the left.

If traveling south on Interstate 79:

Exit from Interstate 79 at Roanoke Exit (Exit 91).

Turn Right on US 19 South.

Travel approximately 29 miles through the community of Falls Mill.

Look for a sign that reads Bulltown Campground/Historical Area (Millstone Road) on the right.

This Campground has lots of history and even includes a historical area, at the beginning of the campground. The battle of Bulltown lasted approximately 12 hours. The Confederates were led by Colonel William L. Jackson, and the Union forces were led by Captain Mattingly.

The Historical section-

There are actual homes that were moved board for board and placed in this section before the construction of the Burnsville Lake, There is even a beautiful old church up on the hill.

After turning in to the Bulltown Campsite area on the left is the Historical area. There is a welcome center with artifacts that were found on the ground, and pamphlets with information about Bulltown, you can even schedule tours.
