In this Photoshop tutorial I will show you how to create the purple world wide web
search icon that is in my image. Please see the image that I have provided to see the ending results of this tutorial. These icons are often used for menus on websites. They’re very easy to create. I will write this tutorial in detail so that the new Photoshop users can follow along too.

How to Create a Purple World Wide Web Search Icon in Photoshop

Create a new canvas to work on. Click File > New at the top of your Photoshop window to create a new canvas. Create the canvas 100 pixels by 100 pixels. Set the background color to the color that you need. Then click the OK button on that box.

Next, you will need to create a new layer to work on. Click the icon in the bottom of the layers panel that looks like a sheet of paper to create a new layer. Press F7 on your keyboard if you do not see your layers panel.

Next, you will need to select your Custom Shape Tool from your toolbar. Hold your Shape Tool down until the menu drops down and then click the Custom Shape Tool. Go to the top of your window and change the Customs Shapes. Drop the Shape box down and click the arrow on the right side of that box. Click Web from the drop down menu. That will change your custom shapes. Double click on the World Wide Web Search shape. Then draw your shape on your canvas.

Next, you will need to rasterize the layer to make the edges of the shape smooth. Right click on the Shape Layer and click Rasterize Layer from the pop up menu.

The last step of this tutorial is to add the effects to the icon. Right click on the layer again and click Blending Options from the menu. Apply the following effects to the icon in the Blending Options window.
