The Woman in the Mirror

Who Can She Be?

Lately I have been seeing this familiar face as I pass by a mirror, can't remember when I saw her before. How she gets in my house without me seeing her is a concern. Just this morning I saw her in the bathroom as I was brushing my teeth, then again as I was going down the stairs. She never leaves a mess behind or touches anything, just quietly wanders around.

I ask my husband if he has seen her and he looks at me funny, "What woman?' he says. Now he thinks I lost my mind ! I explain to him she is about my height, has blondish hair like mine, has blue eyes like mine, actually as I think about her I can remember her almost looking like me if I was fifteen years older. I never see her face to face, only a shadow in the mirror. I can see her laugh and hear her voice as I pass by, but never face to face.

As my husband sits in the dining room, I head up the stairs to bed, as I pass the mirror, I see her just ahead of me ! I yell to him to come quick, up the stairs he runs two at a time, now he stands next to me and asks "what's wrong?". I look at him startled, what is wrong with his vision can't he see her, hes laughing now as he looks at me and smiles, "Honey, I hate to tell you but that woman is you!"

This woman is graying and getting some wrinkles, who is he looking at? I turn and face the mirror and now I recognize this woman, its my Mom's face on my body ! When did I turn into Mom ? I look at my husband and realize that maybe the woman in the mirror is the woman yet to be. Slowly he turns to go back down, glancing over his shoulder he smiles at me and calmly says I love you Honey ! Well Mom it has come to pass, I have turned into a version of you.

Love you, Mom !
