It's very difficult to stop smoking. I am a smoker and I quit smoking when I became pregnant. I decided to stop smoking as soon as I found out and never thought twice about it. I noticed
that my sense of smell became very distinct and I could taste things better than usual. I liked the idea of not smelling like smoke and my hair also smelled nice. In order to stop smoking you need to really want to quit. If you don't want to quit you won't be able to stop smoking.

The easiest way to stop smoking is to use other methods like the patch and gum. However, this works for the nicotine addiction but it also sets you up and makes you want a cigarette that much more. The best bet is to pick a day you want to stop smoking and stick to it. Encourage yourself and treat yourself to different things in order to make yourself feel better.

When you are getting closer to your quit date you will need to switch from buying cartons of cigarettes to packs. You won't stop smoking if you have a half a carton of cigarettes in the house. Once you finish that last pack, that's it. You will now enter into the NON smoking world. You will have extra money each month that you can spend on something else other than cigarettes. Your home, car and everything around you will smell wonderful.

If that method doesn't work you can always try to quit slowly. You need to cut back on the amount of cigarettes you smoke. Addiction is there with 3 cigarettes a day. If you can cut it down to that then you will not feel the urge to smoke a cigarette. It won't even be an issue to you. You will smell them and actually turn away from them. This is another good way to quit smoking. You will need encouragement and family and friends who respect your wishes. Stay away from people who smoke during this time because they will try to tempt you into having just one cigarette, which will start the cycle completely over again. Even one cigarette will turn you into a smoker again, so just say no.
