Christian Sligh of Greenville, SC, is the 10th person to leave on American Idol. You first saw his audition on television when he was in Birmingham.
He left the stage while singing "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" and hugging his current contestants. The worship leader was in the top ten of the American Idol show.
Chris's reasoning for even entering American Idol was for one little reason as quoted by Chris himself: "So I can make David Hasselhoff cry."
The curly cutie lost after 30 million votes. His favorite pop artists consisted of one of his own contestants: Gina Glocksen. Chris was just recently married, and he said besides his wedding day, getting picked to go on American Idol was one of his most proudest moments in his life. Some of the songs Chris sang while on American Idol were She's not There, Endless Love, Trouble, and Typical.
During his performance on Tuesday night, Chris seemed to struggle a bit with his song by "Police", but he still held with it strong. The judges had told him that his rhythm was off, and also that he was all over the place with his song. His vocals also could have been better. During an interview with MTV, Chris told them that he had never really looked at the music or listened to the song much. He was originally going to perform the song: Give a Little Bit" by Supertramp. Chris performed the song by POLICE to give himself a bit of a challenge-but this challenge cost him his place on American Idol.
Chris also told MTV that he never was in the competition to win it. He was going for more of the alternative-rock genre, and actually during the week he performed "Endless Love," he wanted to back out of the competition. Although, when Chris found on that he couldn't do the tour if he backed out, he decided to go ahead and hang in there.
At the end of the show on Wednesday night,(March 28th), Chris had a little bet with Phil Stacey as well--during his last performance, he told Stacey that he owed him 50 bucks. That night Chris actually made a bet with Phil Stacey that he was going home. So Chris also went home fifty dollars richer ...
