February 10, 2005 a newborn baby boy was found in the small town of Orosi, California. Then on January 8, 2006, another newborn baby girl was found just two blocks from the first, a resident finding her inside of a pick-up truck. December 3, 2006, the last of three newborns are found, this time the baby girl dead of severe exposure to the cold, located inside of another pick-up truck wrapped in a t-shirt. The medical examiner that performed the autopsy, stated the little girl had been alive almost a day.

To the surprise of authorities, DNA tests revealed that the babies have all the same mother. Without any leads, police are urging the community to get involved and help find the woman who is doing this by offering a $5,000 dollar reward for any information that pertains to the arrest of the woman. Authorities are not sure if she will be facing criminal charges, it is a possibility. In the mean time police are focused more on locating her so that she does not do it anymore.

Hortencia Espino, a resident of the 7300 farming community is appalled and recently told officials "How can the relatives not see this girl pregnant, and then see that she's not pregnant anymore and not ask where's the baby? Somebody must know something".

On March 28, 2007, the small town of Orosi held a baptism and a funeral for the baby who has become, "Angelita DeOrosi" which means Orosi's little angel. The resident Marely Pena who found the child was seen crying behind her glasses as other residents threw handfuls of dirt onto the tiny coffin. Pena later said to reporters "I ask myself every day what if she had been alive. We could have saved her"

46 states and California all had the law go into effect in 2001 that allows parents to legally abandon a child at a hospital, fire station, police station or any other designated safe zone within 72 hour of birth with no questions asked. In California alone almost 200 babies have been surrendered to officials instead of being abandoned and left to die.

A very sad story. In this day and age there is no excuse for mothers to abandon babies in this manner.

How heartbreaking, and what a huge tragedy. Those babies never needed to be abandoned like that.

This is sad, and also not to mention that the mom probably needs some medical attention due to giving birth so close. I don't understand how anyone would abandon their baby, and then go have another one and do it again.
