Put a little Fourth of July fun into your homeschool lesson with this holiday themed math practice sheet. Here are complete instructions to design and set up a practice sheet...

My students all enjoy holiday themed worksheets. If you have kids that need a little encouragement with their math problems this summer, this practice sheet might be just the thing. If you use a reward system,
consider something like 4th of July stickers to use in conjunction with these practice sheets.

Start by opening your word processing program to a new document. The first thing we'll do is adjust the page orientation. Go into your 'format>page' menu and click 'landscape'. Save that change, and then close the menu window.

Now we'll build the boxes to put the problems in. Go to your 'table>insert>table' menu. Create a table with six rows, six columns, and no header row. If you're prompted for a name, call it whatever you want, (it won't affect how the table displays). You can choose whether to have 'borders' turned on or off. On - will display a grid around the problems when it prints out. Off - will make the borders show on the screen while yo're working, but not print them out. Some children like the lines showing, and some don't. Do whatever your child is more comfortable with.

Now highlight the whole table, and 'right-click>row>height' on it to go to the context menu. Unclick 'fit to size' and enter '1.1' for the new row height. Click okay, and it should close the box and adjust your table at the same time. Your paper should now have 36 squares, each big enough to enter a problem in.

Highlight the two right-most squares in each of the top two rows (a total of four squares). Click 'table>merge cells' to make those four blocks into one big block. Next center that block in both directions. Put your cursor in that big box and click 'format>alignment>centered' and then click 'format>alignment>center'.
