Maytag Model Number MFD2561H

The price of the Maytag French Door Refrigerator ($1599 at Home Depot in white), model number MFD2561 may turn-off some purchasers.  However, when you are making an appliance decision, picking a refrigerator, that will last for over a decade, an extra couple hundred dollars is a small price to
pay for the convenience and features of the Maytag MFD2561H French Door Refrigerator.

This Maytag French Door model comes with digital temperature controls, including a "Max Cool" setting that cools the fridge quickly after loading it with new groceries, an "Away" function for when the doors won't be opened for several days, and even an alarm telling you the doors have been left open.  It includes an efficient ice maker and a filtered-water dispenser, something often lacking in the french door model refrigerator.

Inside the Maytag MFD2561 refrigerator, there are plenty of shelves, including sliding shelves and one that can be adjusted even when full.  The refrigerator has plenty of door shelves big enough to hold two one-gallon jugs each, and the standard butter tray.  As for crispers, the Maytag French Door model comes with two generous crisper drawers, plus a full-width, dividable deli-drawer that can hold large platters, or your every-day deli stuff.

After three years my compressor just went out on my MFD2561HES French Door Maytag. Just like my co-worker's identical refrigreator did after just one and a half years. My Mom's Kenmore came with a 5 year warentee from the maufacturer, so I was hoping the same for my more expensive Maytag, but no such luck. I'm going back to buying Kenmore, my last one was 11 years old when I sold it to buy a bigger one.

I just had my Maytag French Door frige reapaired for the second time. (the repair man Glenn was a real gem & says he repairs these things on a regular basis) I too bought it from Home Depot. I have an extended warranty thank goodness that ends on 12/2010. I can extend that warranty but not until it gets closer to the cancelation due date. I WILL BE extending that policy. I've been without it for 7 days in the middle of the heat. We've been putting frozen milk jugs in & out to help keep the milk at least at 42 degrees so that it doesn't spoil. I've called everyone from Maytag to GE Zurich & then to Consumer Relations to get some answers. If anyone is interested, here's the phone number for Consumer Relations (1.800.437.3783) I was told that if the frige goes out 3 times or more, they would consider replacing it. My model number is MFF2557HEW

there is a recall on the hv ctrl board part number 12920710. this is dealing with the controls blinking and the ice flapper going crazy.

I have had my Maytag refrigerator model #MFD2560HEQ since 8/21/04 , works beautifully, never had any problems at all. What I do not like anymore are the French doors. Would I be able to replace it with one door?

Has anyone had problems with the control panel flashing?

In response to bobb, I to can be added to the 'frozen water dispenser' list. Not sure what the model # is but the dispenser is inside the refrigerator. I am going to try the 44 degrees for 2 days and see how it works. If it does, thank you! If not, I will be another customer with an 18 month old unit that replaced a 17 year old unit that other than not freezing ice cream, worked fine. Not supposed to eat that stuff anyway! *sigh*

I have the same problem as most with the ice maker freezing up..but with an even worse outcome. When it freezes up...the ice gets jammed somewhere that causes the ice tray to OVERFLOW with water. I have come home twice to a flooded out kitchen and basement. Of course I am just 1 month outside the 1 yr warranty so there isnt SQUAT I can do. DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE!!!!

Well, now I wish I had read all the complaints before I bought this refridgerator. The ice maker bin keeps popping open and now all of my front panel electronics is flashing along with the ice door flapper is opening and closing constantly. Oh, by the way, I've only have had it for just over a year. They don't make them like they use to.

The positive review above must have been submitted by Maytag. Our Fr. Door Model mfi2568 icemaker failed within 3 months of purchase. It took a week to find out we had to wait 2 months for the part/unit. This is a $2500 fridge! Then the eggs we stored on the small shelf next to the icemaker all froze. Now the veg/fruit bin drawers are wearing along the cheap clear plastic edges that glide into the rails. The drawers are poorly fitted and wobble side to side and up/down when you push or pull them. This causes collision with the humidty tab adjuster above the drawers. Maytag service stopped answering my emails when I asked for replacement drawers ( still under warranty) and how/when they would correct the flaws. More cheap Chinese junk....buyer beware.
