Getting the Most from Your Colored Hair

Many men and woman like to add a little spark and flare to their lives, and many choose to do it through their hair color. Whether its changing from a golden brown to an icy blonde, or from a midnight black to a fiery red, hair colors change the way we see our selves and how other perceive us. It'
s fun and it's an easy way to change something about ourselves. But have you ever wondered why that new color flops and fades soon after coloring? Well it could have something to do with your coloring application choice, your hair, the products you're using, the color itself, or the condition of your hair

Let's start with the first point. Coloring application is important. Why? Because often times we choose the easy way out and pick a boxed color from the supermarket shelf. Sure its fun to have a little coloring party, its easy because you can do it at home without having to make an appointment, and it's cheap too. However, the color you buy at the store isn't the same quality as the color you get from a salon. A salon colorist is trained in taking care of putting together the best color for you and getting the effect you're looking for. Not to mention that salon colors are less harsh on your hair, so you'd be doing less damage to make an appointment, even if that means waiting an extra week or two. Colorists can make sure you're getting a proper moisturizer and vitamin pack after coloring as well, something that most color at home people forget.

  • Protect your hair from the sun.
  • Use a color enhancing or color depositing shampoo.
  • Use a leave in conditioner once a week.
