There are people all around that are not pleased with the way their lives are going. Some of them are so messed up that they even think of suicide. There is one thing that I did to change the track that my life was on. I changed the people and places I hung around.

It may seem hard at first but after a few weeks you will feel better about your decision. Its just that sometimes a person has to do what they have to do. I had to do this at one point in my life. Some of the people I knew were happy for me when I finally ran into them. Others said that I was trying to act anti-social.

I used to be involved in a lot of negative crowds in my town before figuring out that my life wasn't getting any better. Drinking on the weekend led to drinking daily.

I messed up a lot of relationships I had with different people. From old schoolmates and friends to girlfriends. Some of them were telling me stuff to help me but I wasn't trying to hear what they were saying. It wasn't until I moved out of town and joined AA until I realized what they were trying to tell me which was mostly stuff to help me instead of harming me. AA also recommended me to go back to those people and make amends.

To me its funny that I had to leave to realize certain things like what was good for me and what was bad for me. Now when I pay my old town a visit people look at me and say things like, "You look much better". And I can look at them eye to eye instead of running away like I used to, or even hold a decent conversation like a mature grown-up should.

Now that I have changed for the better and living this new lifestyle, I have turned into a more productive citizen. I get up and get out to the polls to vote and occasionally donate clothes to Goodwill. I can remember back when I didn't even care who the people chose to run my city.

To top it all off, I even dress different. This new lifestyle comes with a new wardrobe. The big, baggy pants and shirts had to be retired. Nowadays I wear my shirts tucked in, pants pulled up and casual type shoes. I guess all that is left to do now is start a family and get my house with the big white pickett fence.
