Photoshop Icons - Purple and White Cut Icon

In this Photoshop Tutorial I will show you how to create the purple and white cut icon in my image. Please see the image that I have provided to see the ending results. This is a purple glass looking icon with a pair of scissors on it. These icons are used on websites and they mean cut. Like cut, copy, and paste. I will write this tutorial in detail so that the new Photoshop users can follow along too.

How to Create a Purple and White Cut Icon in Photoshop

Open your Photoshop program and let it load. Go to the top of your Photoshop window and click File > New to create a new canvas. Create your canvas 100 pixels by 100 pixels. Select the color background that you need and click the OK button.

Next, you will need to create a New Layer. Click on the little icon at the bottom of the Layers Panel that looks like a sheet of paper with the corner curled up. Press F7 on your keyboard if you do not see your layers panel. Name your layer Icon Background. Double click the name of the layer to rename it.

Next, you will need to select your Rounded Rectangle Tool from your toolbar. Set the radius to 10px. Then draw your shape on the canvas.

Left click one time on the Icon Background Layer to highlight it. Then right click on the layer and click Rasterize Layer from the pop up menu.

Right click on that layer again and click Blending Options from the menu. Apply the following effects to your icon.
