Casual

Casually I wait outside for you to come by.

With a shirt I picked out just for you, but

Made to look as if, I just threw it on.

My legs shaved, but I stretch them out,

And cross them at the ankle,

With my arms draped on the arms of the chair.

Just soaking up the sun as if that is the only reason

I am sitting there.

Down the street, I see you walking,

Your hunched form becoming straight

As you, get nearer.

I put on my sunglasses, and wiggle my bare toes

Letting the sun glint off my shiny red polish,

Hoping you will notice.

Then suddenly,

Your shadow falls over me, "Hey"

I look up and say. Then casually,

Bunch up my hair in the way it looks best.

"Hey" you say and sit in the chair I put next to me.

"Hot day" you say and I agree.

"You look good," you say, and I smile and say "thanks"

Then I am grateful, for all the time I spent,

On being casual.

In one way or another, we've probably all done this. ;)
