What's All the Hype About?
Okay so apparently the latest craze is Travis Sago's The Bum Marketing Method which is essentially article marketing in my opinion.Anyhow, Travis' method shows you how to more or less do three key things to earn affiliate sales (and the key here is that you can do it withou even having your own
1.) First thing you do is like anything else with "niche" marketing. You find a niche, or a hungry market that is looking to buy something. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail on this because you can get Travis' FREE report and he'll tell you all about it.
2.) You write key-word rich articles about the products you are trying to promote and submit them to article directories and USFreeAds, and if you do everything correctly (and well) then chances are you will be earning affiliate comission off of click bank products in no time.
3.) Rinse. Wash. Repeat. And in doing so you have to keep in mind that your articles are essentially on the Internet forever and so in theory you'll keep earnings similar comissions off of those articles and products all the while going through the process again and again to continue to increase your earnings.
Now Travis will tell you that ANY BUM can do this and have success, but to me that's like saying anyone can pick up a baseball and throw it. To actually be able to pitch in the show is another story. The process (while it seems simple), and may be for some is REALLY a challenge and can be very time consuming if you're not purchasing other tools to accelerate the process.
For one, finding the right key word phrases to market is not easy. Then you have to pick the right product to market and that's not easy either because those respective pages have to be designed well with a good sales page, etc. Then you actually have to write a key word article that others are going to read. The first one I wrote has been up for almost a week now and I think it has been downloaded only 14 times or something like that resulting in ZERO sales.
So while ANYONE can DO the bum marketing method you have to be good at many other aspects of online-marketing to succeed at this and you are investing a lot of time.

Bum marketing really works. you just have to have the right techniques. I am an article marketer...the beauty of article marketing is that it's like creating a highly discoverable webpage, and pointing it back to your site. Article marketing will always be the best way to market. It's sad so many over look it.
Bum marketing is just a variation to turn article marketing into profit. It works, and it will always work. You have to find your own little "twist" for it to be fully profitable however.

One more thing, for anyone who wants more info on this technique - check out the Warrior Forum (www.warriorforum.com). The subject comes up frequently there.

Thanks for the article, Ryan. For me, Bum Marketing sounded easy, but wasn't - at least not in terms of actual earnings. But I think that's mainly due to my own inexperience when it comes to SEO - which I think is just as much of an art as it is a science. I do think the SEO techniques Travis and the other bum marketers teach would be useful for just about any kind of internet marketing. I just haven't been able to make them work for me - yet.

hmm I hadn't heard it called bum marketing before. I've used these methods and they have worked for me before. I'd be interested in reading this ebook though.

There's a saying that goes something like, "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is" that came to mind when I read this. I like your example of throwing a ball versus pitching a ball. I don't see the Bum Marketing Method as easy enough that a bum off the street could do it. Good marketing slogan to sell themselves, though.
