Fast and Simple Recipe Ideas
Teenagers and young adults are hungry all the time and they don't usually want to spend an hour or more fixing a meal. They especially don't want to spend that long when they are the only one that they are cooking for. Here are a few quick and easy meal ideas
for young adults or anyone else who needs a quick and easy meal that doesn't consist of TV dinners, frozen burritos and junk food.
1. Nachos - Put some tortilla chips on a plate and sprinkle with shredded cheese or top with nacho cheese. You can get small 16 oz cans of nacho cheese at the grocery for about one dollar. Add some extras to give it flavor. Some of my favorite things to put on nachos are shredded chicken breast, ground beef, bell pepper, salsa and olives.
2. Macaroni and Cheese - Macaroni and cheese has been a staple to young people for ages. It's fast to cook and it tastes great. Add some cut up hot dogs or even better some little sausage smokies (found near the Kielbasa and other sausages in the grocery freezer) and you have your self a tasty meal and probably some leftovers to eat the next day.
3. Chicken and Beans - It tastes better than it sounds. If you have left over chicken breast from a meal, shred some up and put it in a bowl. Open a can of black eyed peas and add about half of a 16 oz can. Add a whole small can of green chilies. Mix it up, add some seasoning if you'd like (I usually add lemon pepper) and heat up in the microwave. It tastes fantastic. I discovered a variation to this as well one day when I had no green chilies. I used salsa instead (and substituted the lemon pepper for chili powder). It tasted just as good.
4. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches - Almost everyone knows how to make a grilled cheese sandwich. You butter a piece of bread, place it in the frying pan, put on the cheese and add another piece of buttered bread. It's simply but so good. Try adding pepperoni or sliced or shredded turkey or chicken to give the meal a little more substance and variety.
