A to Z Guide to Increasing Pageviews: B is for Blogging

One way to promote content is to set up your own blog, if you haven't already.

While it may seem like extra work to have a blog and to write content, it's not really that time-consuming once the initial set up is complete. The extra pageviews you bring to your content will be worth the time
 investment.

1. Select a free blogging service.

If the whole point of blogging is to drive traffic to your content and increase pageviews to make more money, it makes sense to use a free blogging service. Why cut into potential profits if you don't have to in order to create a blog.

There are plenty of free blogging services. Some free blogging services used by other content producers include Blogger (Blogger) and Wordpress (http://www.wordpress.com">WordPress).

Both Blogger and WordPress have easy-to-use templates that let you get a blog going pretty quickly.

2. Include the article RSS

Add the RSS to your article feed to the blog. This is an easy to way to automate publication of links to your latest content on your blog.

3. Promote Older Content

For articles that have not received a lot of pageviews, and are not dated news items, promote them one by one on your blog. Was there an article that you thought would get more traffic? Or one that you thought would definitely spark debate? Write about, post a link, and invite comments.

4. Add other Useful Content

One way to bring repeat users, and generate pageviews is to offer them some useful and original content. Publish blog entries that offer something that readers can use, and not just link to will make them more likely to re-visit all of your content.

5. Make it Interactive

Use any features that encourage reader interaction. People love to offer their own opinions, points of view, and to get involved in conversations. It is the current lifeblood of the Internet. Interactivity can increase pageviews.

6. Link to Other Blogs

Another way to drive traffic to your blog, acquire more readers, and in turn, increase content pageviews is to include links to other blogs on the same topic.

7. Make it Public

Good tips Pam. One of the most important factors to consider are the actual readers when trying to generate page views from blogging. It is definitely true that if no one is reading your blog, it has the same affect on page views just as if you never posted the Blog in the first place, so it is very important to attract readers to the Blog where articles are going to be placed.

Why is that when one does all of the things advised to get more pageviews one still does not see an increase in traffic? I have more pageviews at AC in a month then I had in a year of blogging. Imagine how great it is to get paid to write what I used to write for free and finally have somebody reading what I wrote. I do, however, continue to link, not just my own, but other AC producers articles that relate to the subjects of my blogs.
