Photoshop Text Effects - Fancy Black and Chrome Text Effect

In this Photoshop Tutorial I will show you how to create the fancy black and chrome text in my image. Please see the image that I have provided to see the ending results of this Photoshop tutorial. This is a really neat looking text effect and it is really easy to create.

How to Create a Fancy Black and Chrome Text Effect in Photoshop

The first step is to create a new canvas to work on. Go to the top of your window and click File > New to create a new canvas. Create your canvas 400 pixels by 400 pixels. You can crop your canvas at the end. Set the background color to the color that you want. Then click the OK button on that box.

The next step is to create a new layer to work on. Click the icon in the bottom of the Layers Panel that looks like a sheet of paper with the corner curled up. That will create a new layer. Press F7 on your keyboard if you do not see your layers panel. F7 is the keyboard shortcut to open your layers panel.

Next, you will need to select the Type Tool in your toolbar. Set your foreground color to black. Then draw a space on your canvas to type your text. Click inside the box that you created and type what you want in the box. You can change the size of the font and the font style by highlighting the text and changing it at the top of your Photoshop window.

After you are satisfied with your font style and size, you will need to rasterize the text. This will make the edges of your text smooth. Right click on the Text Layer and click Rasterize Type from the pop up menu.

Next, you will apply the effects needed to make this text look like the one in my image. You apply all of the effects through the Blending Options. Right click on your Text Layer and click Blending Options from the pop up menu. Apply the following effects to your text.

Distance - 3
Spread - 22%
Size - 8
Contour - Ring - Double
Anti-aliased - Unchecked
Noise - 0

Bevel and Emboss
