Before you make any plans for your vacation you should learn a little bit about Havre, Montana. Havre has been an area that has attracted human activity since prehistoric times. It was a popular site used by Native Americans. In fact this is where the Wahkpa Chu'gn Buffalo Jump is located, and it is also close to the site where Chief Joseph made his famous speech that included the historical line "From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever." Fort Assinniboine is also close by. The modern town of Havre was built from a railroad community. Today the town has less than 10,000 regular residents. The climate here is milder than many Montana towns. In May you should expect temperatures to fluctuate between the 30s and 70s. In June things warm up a little bit with temperatures staying above 40 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months with temperatures ranging from the 50s to the 80s.

Your have two options when it comes to lodging in Havre. Your first option is to book a room at one of the local hotels. This is a small town so your indoor lodging options are going to be limited. However, you can select from the Best Western Great Northern Inn, the Super 8 Motel, and the Townhouse Inns. If you want to expand your lodging options you can also look in near by communities of Fort Benton, Lewiston, and Great Falls.
