Why it is More Prevalent Than Ever

Todays political polarization in America can be attributed to the "new media" that has blossomed out of a need for alternative view points and ideology that has always been present but without a means of mass conveying to the public. The so called mainstream media had had a monopoly on opinion and one sided reporting and was able to sway public attitudes. Case in point. Lets say there is a corruption scandal involving a Republican, the news media has a field day ostracizing the politician relentlessly, and wont stop printing front page articles about him/her, till he either steps down or is indicted.

On the flip side lets say a democrat has been caught up in a scandal. The paper will make a mention buried deeply on page eight and most of the time wont even mention what political affiliation he's in. This is just one example of biased reporting. Scooter Libby is in jail because of a memory lapse about a non crime issue, while Sandy Berger is out free and about to be reinstated his security clearance (in 08' how timely for Hillary) after receiving a veritable slap on the wrist and small fine for his involvement in covering Clinton's rear by "sloppily stuffing archive papers in his pants" at least that is how his actions were explained away by the "main stream media". I understand why conservatives are held to a higher standard, and it's because we as conservatives hold ourselves to a higher standard and moral convictions. Once the new media has expanded through Fox and talk radio, people who were of like mind finally realized that conservatives are not the minority but the majority.

Slasher, where's your son stationed? I know you're very proud of him. Have you seen the TV drama-documentary "Path to 9/11"? It goes into detail on what Clinton knew. I wrote an article about it on here.

Bobby, Bush's biggest problem is and always was, opposition from the left. They accused him of being a dumbass, then other the other hand they're saying he masterminded 911. Then they call him a liar, while the entire inteligence agency and the world was all in agreement, clinton said the exact same thing when he was in office, except he never acted on it. It takes conviction and will power to see this through and not poll driven descision making. I can't make myself any clearer on this subject. These are my convictions, my boy is in the Marines, and while I fear for him. I know we are doing the right thing.

(cont.) That's how they think (the Islamists). They don't look at Iraq and say hooray for the positive things that have been done there -- hooray for ousting Saddam, having elections, etc. They look at American intervention as an imperialist occupation by Satan himself, and they will most likely remember the deaths there for a long time.

If a nuke went off in an American city, which may well happen according to today's papers, I would say the Administration didn't do enough of the right things. I am not trying to be overly critical of this Administration, but it seems to me we should have been focusing on working with Pakistan to eradicate the terrorist cells there, and we should definitely have been doing more to secure our borders. I read in the paper today that all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies agree that a future attack IS being planned by Al Quaida, which is still alive and well in Pakistan. Why are we still allowing Pakistan to harbor the Al Quaida? And I know you may not believe in the theory of "blowback," but like it or not the Al Quaida is going to say that their future attacks are in response to deaths in Iraq.

Libertarian is good, as long as you don't become isolationist. We can't put our heads in the sand to make islamic terror go away. Let me ask you this. If a nuke went off in any one of our cities here in the states. Would you blame America for it? Would you say Bush didn't do enough or did too much?

Slasher, the more I read your comments it seems like you think everyone who disagrees with you is a communist liberal leftist. That includes anyone who criticizes the Iraq war or the Bush Administration (in your thinking). But what will you do when this trillion-dollar war bankrupts our economy and makes us weaker in the eyes of foreign enemies like Iran? Maybe you could admit that some people who criticize our present policies actually do it because they love our country and don't want to see it wrecked financially. I find the liberal-conservative spectrum pretty dumb myself. To criticize a Republican does not make one a Democrat, nor vice versa. I actually lean closer to Libertarian myself.

Deez, it sounds to like you are happy that the dems are in power. What have they done since winning in 06, except run interference and undermining our prez's policy at every turn. Seems to me they got more accomplished when they were the minority. Oh, and heads will roll not role. Oh and you can bet I believe in everything I said about wagon circling. I've got a perfect example, but have to "roll right now. When I get back, I'll slam dunk your argument.

True that, my problem is this. The media gives a pass to the left, the left circles the wagons, the right get villified and run out on a rail, we as conservatives don't cover for and protect the guilty party.
