Two weeks ago, Binghamton University fired their basketball coach after going 13-16, a very disappointing record for a program that was considered to be on the rise. Having gone into Division 1 basketball five years ago, the Binghamton basketball team has seemed to improve every year. Last year the team beat Vermont twice and Albany once, two powerhouse teams in the conference. Remember, the Albany team of last year was the same one that almost pulled off the upset of UCONN in the first round of the tournament. As a student at Binghamton University, I loved going to games. However, this past year the team digressed and was awful to watch. They didn't play defense and their offense was atrocious. That will definitely change with the addition of new head basketball coach Kevin Broadus.

Kevin Broadus is currently one of the best assistant basketball coaches in college and he brings with him a winner's mentality from Georgetown. His press conference was still during the Hoyas NCAA tournament runs so until the Hoyas lose in the tournament, he will be unable to start his duties as Binghamton's basketball coach. When the Hoyas lost to Georgetown on Saturday night, Broadus packed his bags and headed for Binghamton. Broadus was rated as the sixth best assistant coach in the nation according to College Basketball websites and his ranking does not begin to describe the man. He is an excellent recruiter and passionate coach as well.

Takeaways
  • Georgetown Assistant basketball coach Kevin Broadu will be the new head coach at Binghamton
  • Broadus was rated the dixth best assistant coach in the country
  • he is an excellent recruiter and will bring the Princeton offence to BU
