Once your baby is able to support their head up unassisted you will see that sitting up is another thing that they often learn very soon. Once a baby can sit up the number of different types of toys that they can use quickly expands.

1. Bobby Pillow
Some babies love to have assistance in sitting up and others hate it. Using a bobby pillow can help protect your child from tipping over when they are first learning to sit up on their own but not all babies like to use them.

2. Toy Telephone
By now your baby is watching everything that the people around them do. If they see that mom or dad talk on the phone they will begin to babble on a phone of their own. In addition to helping a child become more social some toy phones that talk back can help a baby work on their speech.

3. Stacking Rings and Cups
It is amazing all of the things that your baby can learn from stacking toys. Depending on the ring and cup will determine all that the toy offers but most help your baby develop hand-eye coordination, problem solving skills, distinction of colors, awareness of sizes, understand spatial relationships, types of texture, ability to sort and stack and learn different shapes.

4. Piano, Drum or Xylophone
A toy that not a lot of parents choose to buy, but a gift that many people like to buy for a baby is a piano, drum or xylophone. Though they can be a lot of noise they can help your child understand cause and effect more and work on the physical abilities. Understanding that if they hit, or push in the case of the piano, they get to hear a noise is a great thing for a baby to comprehend.

5. Shape Sorters
Like the stacking toys, shape sorters open a baby's mind to the concept of puzzle solving. Once again they will also allow your child to work on learning shapes and colors. Some shape sorters play music so if that is the case your child will be working on cause and effect, which helps them take the initiative to sort the blocks in the first place.

The toy telephone was a big hit with both my boys when they were little. My almost 3 year old still plays with it, actually. And board book are great. You can never have enough in my opinion!

My daughter LOVES her Jumperoo. She likes for me to put it facing the screen door so she can jump and look out.
