Canon is a name you can trust when it comes to digital cameras. They have a long history of producing quality, innovative products. The new Canon Powershot A570 IS is no exception to this rule. This c
ompact point-and-shoot camera has a lot of bang for the buck. With a lot of the new technology of more expensive cameras in the Canon line, the A570 could give you what you want and still keep you within your budget.

The A570 sports Canon's new Digic III processor which includes face detection. What this feature does is detects up to nine faces in a shot and focuses in on them, giving you clearer, more focused pictures. There is also a cool red-eye feature, that comes along with this new processor, that allows you to fix red-eye problems in-camera. The built-in optical image stabilization feature works really well at minimizing unwanted blurriness, even while zoomed in The A570 also offers 12 scene modes to shoot with. On top of that, there are four movie modes that include large pixel movies, or small movies to save space and memory.

The performance of the camera seems good. Shooting speeds and shutter lag are very competitive for the price range of the camera. It takes less than 2 seconds to start up the camera and take your first shot. The only downfall is that with the flash on, it takes about 5 seconds between shots.

The 7.1 megapixel. CCD provides for good image quality on up to 8x10 pictures. What is also nice with the A570 is that it offers 4x optical zoom, while many of it's competitors only offer 3x optical zoom. This camera does not shoot wide-angled shots or close-ups very well, because of the small lens. This shouldn't effect the average photographer too much though. In low light conditions, the camera performs on par with the competition. At ISO 1600, the shots contain a lot of noise, but you'll get the same results with almost any digital camera at this price range. At ISO 200 or less the picture seems fine.

They make additional lenses that fit the cannon power shot A570 . I am trying to find them so I may purchase one of them. I lost the sight that showed these lenses.
