Prank for comment page gets programmer into a lot of hot water. A MySpace member decided to find out how long it would take to get a comment removed from John McCain's MySpace page. The first step taken was to wait until the staff at McCain's office had gone home for the day. The next step was to post a comment with a small picture. With no staff available, the comment was automatically approved.

Later in the day, the programmer switched the picture to something not so appropriate. The staff returned and not only did they NOT delete the comment left from the prankster, they actually approved it with the picture that was not so appropriate.

Well not everyone felt that the comment and the picture were funny. The prankster was later met by a the FBI at the front door with warrant in hand. What are the charges? The prankster is being charged with unlawful entry into John McCain's official web site. Being a programmer and able to keep the comment and pictures up now have practically destroyed the prankster's life and career. Evidently, no-one has taken into account that it could be human error on the part of McCain's staff.

The warrant included:

Some people just can't take a joke. It is really stupid that the FBI and the courts are wasting time and money prosecuting this foolish person.

The prankster should have some sort of reprimand. But the weight of the FBI-c'mon. Don't they have better things to do!

Excellent reporting! How come the FBI doesn't show up when someone leaves an inappropriate comment on regular people's pages? It's not fair! Great article.
