Fashion Trends of Spring and Summer 2007
I'm in no way a trend follower. Occasionally, however, I'm curious as to what the 'cool kids' are wearing. Here are the trends right now for spring and summer.
Dresses- Dresses are in high fashion this spring. Get those hemlines up though, because apparently to be fashionably you need less material not more. The midriff should be
covered but not much leg.
High Waistlines- Trendsetters seeming have put aside the traditional waistline at the waist and raised it up a bit. Fashionable waistlines this spring are closer to your chest than to your waist. Perhaps they should change the name if the waistline is no longer a 'waist' line.
Volume- Full skirts, full sleeves, full collars, there are what we're looking at this spring. If you want to go with the trends put aside those skinny jeans and buy a few with wide legs. While you're at buy a couple full skirts and trapeze dresses (with high waistlines and short hemlines).
Colors- It depends whether you want to go with what the models on the catwalk are wearing or what you see all those fashion trendsetters wearing. The models are wearing very earthy tones and neutral colors like sandy brown, ecru and cream. The other fashion experts will be wearing rich jewel tones such as electric blue, gold and metallic colors.
Bold Prints- If you want to be hip with today's trends don't go for the little tiny flower prints. Choose instead, the print that has giant flowers the size of your fist.
Texture- Today's fashions glimmer, shimmer, shine, gleam and glisten. Detailed encrustation and textured appliqué is very much in style right now.
Futuristic Fashion- Designer shows apparently are employing the use of chain mail. Personally I would call this more of a medieval fashion than futuristic. This fashion is nearly impossible to actually employ in the real world (as opposed to the catwalk). For now, those strict fashion followers are opting for lots of mettalics and silvers.
