A Pomeranian is a toy breed which weighs an average of 3-7 pounds when fully grown. The Pomeranian has a short body with a full tail which curls over and lies on his back. The breed has a thick undercoat, which is soft and furry with an insensitively textured outer coat. The breed Is an intelligent breed and is a bit smug, and commands attention. Because of the several layers of the Pomeranian's coat, many people shy away from the breed out of concern for the upkeep. Even though their coat should receive daily brushing to prevent mats, the grooming is not so difficult it you keep it up. When you have a Pomeranian, you should be aware that if you do not brush your dog each day, that the fur can easily become matted because the coat has more than one layer. In addition the coat sheds more than other breeds. Most Pomeranians are considered to be of show dog quality, although they do not have strict rulings as far as markings and such as the other breeds do. The Pomeranians love attention and they will find that your fussing over them is very enjoyable.
The face of the Pomeranian somewhat resembles the look of a little fox. The Pomeranian has small pointed ears, and the eyes are dark and almond shaped. The nose of the Pomeranian should be black and the rims around the eyes are as well which make it appear that they may be wearing a bit of eye liner.
The Pomeranian walks with his little head held high as if he is a proud breed. He has a compressed body and a plump tail which curves over and lies on his back as he walks about. The Pomeranian is has an outgoing personality, and is of great intelligence which makes a wonderful companion dog. He is also a great breed which is very competitive in the show place.
