Bare Escentuals opened its first store in Los Gatos, California in 1976. It's creator and CEO Leslie Blodgett appears on the infomercials herself and demonstrates the amazing Bare minerals cosmetic line. Bare Minerals advertises that it is made from 100% pure, crushed materials and is free of preservatives, talc, oil, fragrance and other potential skin irritants. Bare Minerals claims it is feather light, and beneficial for all skin types because it will not exacerbate skin sensitivities, allergies, scars, blemishes, rosacea, wrinkles and pigmentation issues.

The concept that lured me in with the Bare Minerals make-up was that it wouldn't clog pores, creating acne issues. As a 36-year-old woman, who now struggles with acne issues, I can say that was enough to make me want to try it. Other liquid foundations that I had used in the past were always producing the "caked on" look and they felt heavy and thick. Even the liquid foundations that were advertised as non-comedogenic made my face break out with acne. After seeing the infomercial, I went online and ordered the Bare Minerals starter kit. The kit came with two shades of foundation, the bronzer or warmth and the Mineral Veil, which is the finishing powder. The kit also contained the Buki brush for complete coverage, the baby buki brush, which is the travel size brush and the regular application brush as well as a travel size cosmetic bag. I later ordered the blemish concealer brush which is magnificent.
