A Review

As a woman who enjoys cooking, I always look for ways to store my leftovers. Since my husband works during the dinner hour, I like to pack him a good dinner to bring to work with him. I either use Tup
perware, Hefty Serve 'n Store or some other container. When I was offered the opportunity to test and review Hefty Serve 'n Store Party Disposable Tableware, I jumped at the chance. Another food container for me to test? Sign me up!

APPEARANCE
The first thing that you notice about Hefty Serve 'n Store Party Disposable Tableware is that they are bright red. Up close, they are very shiny, quite unlike the regular Hefty Serve 'n Store. They come in the red and blue, and are perfect for holiday parties.

Something very different about these plates from the original Hefty Serve 'n Store is that they have built-in handles for easier serving. The "handles" are only 1.5" wide. They aren't needed. The plates are too small to be used as serving platters. It's a nice thought, but just not useful.

DURABILITY
Hefty Serve 'n Store Party Disposable Tableware isn't very durable. It is absolutely NOT microwaveable-- It melts after about a minute. It doesn't stand up to excessive heat either-- It just warps and then melts. The plastic gets into your food, and it's just a bad scene. It doesn't hold liquid as well as the original version. Granted, it isn't designed to be air-tight. However, I gave my hubby some chili in the bowl, zipped it up, and it leaked all over the place. He didn't shake it or anything; just drove to work with it in a bag on the floor of the passenger seat.

If you're just using Hefty Serve 'n Store Party Disposable Tableware to send food home with guests, then this is fine. However, you just can't reheat the leftovers in the product. Food must be transferred to a microwave safe dish. I prefer the convenience of one plate being used for storage, heating and serving. The other Hefty Serve 'n Store are just as attractive in white.

I have been trying to find your interlocking paper plates, yet they seem to have been discontinued. Have they? If not where may I purchase them? They were excellent for transporting leftovers, meals for my elderly neighbors and for reheating leftovers.

I love your hefty serve'n store products. I was purchasing at Wal Mart because they had the best price in my area, but I have been unable to find them any where here lately. I hope you haven't discontinued them. Pat Prather 2336 Morningside Dr. Modesto, Ca. 95355 psprather@sbcglobal.net
