In our daily lives we consume a variety of things that can weaken tooth enamel which can eventually lead to tooth decay. Over time, tooth decay can lead to expensive dental bills or even the loss of permanent teeth. In fact, two out of three adults risk losing a tooth because of tooth decay. But now there's a new product that gives us the chance to fight back. ACT mouthwash, which has long offered a fluoride rinse to help protect teeth from the onset of decay, has released a new product called ACT Restoring which not only provides fluoride treatment, but also restores essential minerals to weakened spots in tooth enamel.

When my dentist first recommended the ACT brand of mouthwash to me several years ago, I was immediately drawn to the product. ACT brand, he had informed me, was the most effect product on the market for fluoride treatment. What immediately drew me to the product was that not only did it provide additional fluoride protection, but also came in a cinnamon flavor which gave a pleasant alternative to the traditional mint dental hygiene products I had used in the past. There was also an entire line of the product geared for children, this meant that not only could I receive the benefits of a fluoride rinse, but so could my kids.

Another handy feature to the product, not available with any other brand, was the squeeze style bottle which allowed for quick and easy dosing without the hassle of pouring and measuring the correct amount of rinse.

When ACT Restoring was introduced into the product market, I asked my dentist if it was worth giving a try. He readily agreed that the reputation of the original fluoride rinse made it more than worth picking up a bottle. Not only did the new product offer the same fluoride benefits as the original, but it also provided important minerals that could restore weakened spots in the enamel long before they had the opportunity to form decay. The best offense, he explained, was good defensive measures.

My daughter and I have experienced sores in our mouth since we started using ACT. I have searched to see if others are having this trouble or if it is unrelated. Any problems:?

I used ACT for several years after my dentist recommended a fluoride rinse. When I bought a new bottle yesterday, I was disappointed 1) that the dispensing squeeze bottle is gone as well as the fact that the formula now contains alcohol, 11% or 22 proof in spirit terminology. The old bottle proudly proclaimed "alcohol free" on the front. I will definitely consider another brand of fluoride rinse when this new Reach Act is gone.

I was also disappointed that they did not keep the squeeze bottle dosage design with the Act Restoring Mouthwash. The cap measuring makes the cap sticky and it leaks on to the top rim. I wish they would bring back the squeeze design. Otherwise, I'm happy with the product and it's effectiveness.
