Denzel Washington may not be serving in the Iraq War, but he certainly wants to make the movie of a lifetime to show people what the war is like from a soldier's eyes. It may be Washington's way of helping fight the War on Terrorism.

Washington hopes to portray a fallen soldier, 1st Sergeant Charles Monroe King that lost his life one month before the end of his duty in Iraq. King wrote in a journal to his newborn son about the trials and tribulations of war in Iraq, and tried to prepare him for life without a father, just in case.

Denzel Washington will produce and star in the movie about the Iraq war that will based on King's 200 page journal. 1st Sergeant Charles Monroe King was 48 years old when he was killed by an explosive device that detonated near his vehicle on a volunteer mission. He lost his life in October 2006 in Baghdad, one month before he completed his tour of duty. King left for Iraq one month before his son was born and hoped to communicate with him through his journal of writings about his experiences in the Iraq war. King also has a 16 year old daughter who is thrilled that her father will be remembered by Washington's film and by the book that tells the story of her Dad.

King mailed the journal to his fiancé, Dana Canedy, a few months before his volunteer mission, and his death pressed Canedy to write an article that was published in The New York Times. From this article sprang opportunities for her to tell the world about the love of her life, and what he went through to perform his duty for America.

A book based on this soldier's journal will be released soon by Crown, and the essay was published in January 2007.
