Dating after a failed relationship is never easy, because there are so many emotions that you are facing -- disappointment, rejection, anger, and depression -- which can affect how you feel about someone new. Here are a few helpful hints on how to help you get back into the dating pool, after a broken relationship.

1. Allow yourself time to adjust.

Give yourself time to heal from your previous relationship and get over all your negative feelings. If you do not allow yourself time to adjust, you will not be ready to move on. You will only end up bringing baggage into your new relationship, if you date other people on the rebound.

2. Date around.

Once you believe that you are ready to get back into the dating scene, do not rush into a serious relationship right away. Instead, try to date around for a while. Get a chance to enjoy your new relationships with other people. Also, avoid stereotyping your dates before you get to know them. Do not punish them for the things that went wrong on your previous relationship.

3. Meet new people.

This is a great way of forgetting about past relationships. Put yourself out there and let people help you through. If you find it difficult to go out and meet new people, allow your friends and family to help you. Isolating ourselves is a natural reaction when we are hurting. However, the best way to overcome that hurt is to experience being around other people.

4. Enjoy your newfound freedom.

Taking some time out is always healthy, especially if you're just coming out of a failed relationship. Learn how to cope with your feelings by taking advantage of your newfound freedom. Do things that you were never able to do because of your previous relationship. Go out with friends. Select activities that you have never done before. Make the most out of your time by focusing on yourself for a change.

5. Move on from your previous relationship.

Remember to go slow. There is no better way to get over a previous relationship than to just indulge yourself with the presence of other people. If you are having difficulty socializing, try joining dating services and singles groups, which offer just that.

6. Control your outlook.
