Wrestlemania 23 - Batista Vs the Undertaker Blow by Blow
Wrestlemania 23's World Championship event featured World Champion Batista Vs The Undertaker who was 14-0 lifetime in Wrestlemania matches. In the pre-fight fan poll run by the WWE, the undertaker was favored to win by 82% of fans. However, Champion Batista guaranteed a victory and was looking to b
e the first to defeat The Undertaker in a Wrestlemania match. 10 years ago, The Undertaker won the World Championship at Wrestlemania, and looked to repeat that feat tonight in front of 82000 fans at Ford Field in Detroit Michigan.
Batista entered the stadium and walked uneventfully to the squared circle. Then the lights went out and hooded faceless people entered the stadium holding bright torches. The crowed was completely silent and then the faint sounds of church music could be heard getting louder and louder. Finally the church music quieted and the familiar bells associated with The Undertaker rang which made everyone in the building get up on their feet. The Undertaker made his very dramatic and slow walk down to the ring never losing eye contact with Batista. Signs of "14-1" could be seen in the background.
The match began with The Undertaker taking the left side of the ring with Batista in the right front corner. The ref was in the middle wearing a blue shirt. At the bell, Batista came out hitting hard backing The Undertaker into the back left corner and hitting him with several left and right hand punches. The Undertaker reversed roles with Batista and was beating him in the back left corner when he was distracted by the ref and went to have a conversation with him.
With The Undertaker preoccupied, Batista got his energy back and attacked The Undertaker. The Undertaker managed to get Batista out of the ring and they began to fight outside, each with their mind on the time. Batista could retain the title on a count out, however he claimed he would not do that.
