First, you will need to use Mozilla Firefox as your internet browser. You will also need to use Firefox to send and respond to email for this method to work. Firefox is a free internet browser that has many advantageous features that Internet Explorer does not. Firefox can be downloaded at http://www.mozilla.com.
Second, you will need to download the Firefox extension Greasemonkey. Greasemonkey allows users to install scripts that make instantaneous changes to specific web pages. In this case you will use Greasemonkey to add HTML signatures to Gmail emails and responses. Greasemonkey can be downloaded at http://www.greasespot.net.
Third, you need to install the script. The script, which was written by Garrett Rogers and James Mortensen and modified by Rick Klau, can be found at http://www.opensourceopportunities.com/htmlreplysignaturesforgm.user.js. You will likely need to close your Firefox browser and then reopen it to fully install Greasemonkey and the script.
Once you have completed the above three steps you will need to modify the Greasemonkey script to meet your specific needs. At the bottom of the Firefox screen will be a monkey head. You should right click on the monkey head and select "manage user scripts." The Greasemonkey script management window will open. In this window you should see "HTML Reply Signatures in Gmail" at the top left of the screen. At the bottom left of the screen you will see "edit." Click on "edit" and then select "Microsoft Word" or some other text viewer if prompted.
The script text should now be available for you to edit. Look at the text and find the portion that begins with, //edit this variable -- add the HTML . . . . . . .
