Jefferson county is home to a number of paranormal sightings, most of these sightings fall into two towns. And these towns were part of the civil war, so they are not only a place to maybe see a ghost, but there are historical sites as well.

Harpers Ferry: Is located at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers.

From the Harper's Ferry National Historic website- " Harpers Ferry witnessed a lot of events that influenced the history of our nation. The first American railroad, John Brown's attack on slavery, and the largest surrender of federal troops during the civil war."

Harpers Ferry National Park- The ghost of John Brown walks the grounds with his black dog. It is said that his ghost appears so solid and real that people are known to start conversations with him, only to have him disappear right before their eyes.

The Hilltop House Hotel: This historic century old hotel is located at 400 E. Ridge St. in Harpers Ferry. Some of the famous guests of this hotel have included Alexander Graham Bell, Mark Twain, Pearl Buck , and President Woodrow Wilson on more than one occasion. This is a site for numerous ghosts. Solders are seen walking inside the hotel and the grounds around the hotel, Room 66 is famously known for its child ghost, who's picture hanging on the wall in the room is rumored to cry "real" tears. This hotel has been the location of numerous sightings of paranormal happenings.

The Chapel Of St. Peter's: This Roman Catholic Church still holds services. The cries of an infant have been heard numerous times along with the Priest who stands at the door at dusk to greet you then vanishes into thin air. There have been reports of the cry's of solders who died here as well. The cemetery next to the church is a hot spot of paranormal activity as well.

my grandfather used to work at the hill top and he would come home and tell me stories about what happened at work. Everyday he came home and had a new ghost story to tell.

I love all things paranormal. It's fun reading about other states, especially those involved in the civil war since so many sightings seem to happen in those areas. Thanks for the info.
