12 Year Old Survives Deadly Crash

Twelve year old Christopher Stewart was racing in a children's 100cc Mini near Alton, Hampshire. His Mini was going around 40 mph when Christopher Stewart crashed into a metal barrier. His parents and spectators watched in horror when the accident happened at Tongham Motorclub. It was a difficult si
ght for anyone to believe.

During the crash, Christopher Stewart's entire head was severed from the neck. The decapitation was internal. Unconscious Christopher Stewart was rushed to the emergency room where hopes of his survival were dim at best.

How could anyone survive such severe and massive injuries? There was only a 10% chance of survival for the young boy who had not even reached his teens. Prayers for the boy and his family were offered by virtually everyone that knew about the situation.

Christopher Stewart is a student at Neville Lovette Community school. Classmates and other friends of the family have been watching with great hope the miraculous recovery made by Christopher Stewart after his decapitation.

The journey to recover has not been an easy one for Christopher or his family. Christopher Stewart spent six hours in surgery. The surgery techniques were new and doctors were not optimistic about Christopher Stewart's recovery. The neck and head had been completely severed. Now after the spinal surgery from Evan Davies, Christopher's top vertebrae is attached to his head with bone grafts and metal plates. It is miraculous that the boy even survived the crash long enough to go into surgery.

Christopher Stewart spent another 19 days in the intensive care unit where the journey to heal was a rough one. Yet, everyone began to raise hopes and continued prayers for the miracle boy. But the healing had not stopped when Christopher was released from intensive care. The young boy has not seen home in over 6 months. He was finally given the all clear to leave the hospital on March 29, 2007.

The boy will be featured on the Oprah Winfrey show about his crash and his miraculous recovery.

hi, this is the mum of that kid who in my opinion has more decency and optimism and value of life than any human being i know. no one especially him deserves a comment like that. i would not lower myself to your standard to write my opinion of you- hennessy - go and learn how to live life rather than criticise or condemn other peoples.

So glad this young boy recovered without any spinal injuries as my 21 year old son has the same injury and operation wilst riding a trail bike but severed his spinal cord above C1 and amazingly survived this injury as well His operation was exactly the same, but now is a Quadriplegic and Ventilated dependant as well.He has his own Web site and it's http://higherthansuperman.net/
