Product Review

I try to bring my lunch with me to work as much as possible. Not only does it save loads of money, but it allows me to control my calorie and fat intake. When I have my own food with me, I'm much less likely to succumb to Chinese take out or fast food drive through. For a busy person, the problem wi
th bringing your lunch is finding the time to pack it. I load up at the grocery store with healthy portable items to throw in my bag on my way out the door. Healthy Choice Soup in those little green microwavable bowls turned out to be a great option for brown-bagging it.

Taste
My favorite of the Healthy Choice microwavable soup bowls is Country Vegetable. It is in a tomato base, and filled with zucchini, potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, kidney beans and more. The flavor is delicious. It doesn't have an overwhelmingly salty flavor. Instead you can really taste all the veggies. Other yummy flavors are Old Fashioned Chicken Noodle, Chicken with Rice, and Beef Pot Roast.

Health
As advertised in its name, Healthy Choice soups are supposed to be healthy. While they are obviously not as healthy as making your own soup at home from whole foods, they are a great alternative to many of the other options out there. Each microwavable bowl is a filling 14 ounces, and contains less than 200 calories. I find that when I eat soup, I am quickly satisfied and don't get the urge to keep eating more things. The soups are also 45% lower in sodium than most canned soups. They are low in fat and carbs, and high in Vitamin A. The meaty soups also have several grams of protein.

Convenience
The main reason I buy this soup is the pure convenience. The containers stack neatly in my cabinet, and I can grab one and toss it into my bag in about 10 seconds. To cook the soup, you take off the plastic lid and peel away the metal seal. Then, you replace the plastic lid. This is great because it serves as an automatic cover for microwave splattering.

Price
The soups are reasonably priced as well. A bowl of Healthy Choice soup will set you back between $2.00 and $3.00. The best thing to do is to watch for sales, and then stock up. At my supermarket, the price occasionally goes down to about $1.50 each.

  • Chicken Noodle and Beef Pot Roast
  • Low in sodium, fat and calories
  • Easy to take to work

I tried a steak & noodle from Healthy Choice, I'm sorry to say it just tastes bad. Has a taste like it has gone bad, was burned or something along those lines. I saw a review on amazon that said the same thing, so It's not just my one can.
