Attention can be considered as one of the basic needs among children especially on their early years. Children's behaviors can greatly change due to neglect and insufficient attention they get from th
eir parents. Lack of attention can lead to more serious problems of involvement to drugs and crimes.. Neglect can also be a form of child abuse thus parents should examine if they are giving their kids enough attention. Among the symptoms when the child is neglected or lacked attention are the following:

1. The child states to his playmates or classmate that no one is at home often. A simple statement from a child can be a clear manifestation that parents do not spend ample time at home and with the kids. Either the children can get used to it or act negatively just to get their much needed attention.

2. If the kids are noticeably dirty without proper clothing apt for the weather of when they are consistently dirty, then chances are their parents do not attend to their physical and health needs. Physical needs must be attended all the more when kids are in their growing ages because they are more susceptible to bad odors and certain health problems.

3. Child's behavior will always be one sure sign to know whether parents lack proper attention to them. Irrational behavior, mood swings and other unusual acts should be observed. Most kids exhibit these behaviors to show that they are insecure and that they lack attention.

4. Watch out for the performance of your kids in school. School is a place where he can act and express his disappointments at home. Frequent absenteeism, stealing or begging for things or money and poor scholastic grades can be symptoms of your lack of attention. Once these happen, teachers will be calling your attention and you should attend to this at once.
