In the Semi-Finals of the NCAA Tournament Lee Humphrey made his 43rd career three-point shot in postseason play. Lee Humphrey moved passed Bobby Hurley on the all time list. I thought in honor of the mo
ment I would take a look at back at some of the best three point shooters in NCAA Tournament history.

Since I already mentioned Lee Humphrey and Bobby Hurley let's start with the guys who have made the most career three pointers in NCAA Tournament history.

When Lee Humphrey drained his three consecutive three-pointer against Ohio State to pretty much put away the Buckeyes he became the all time leader in career three-pointers in NCAA History. Like Humphrey's Gators, Bobby Hurley also went to back to back Championships. Hurley was never known as a three point shooter but was just an incredible team leader and made all the baskets under pressure.

Third on the all-time list is Tony Delk. Tony Delk was one of the members of the 1996 Kentucky Wildcats that won Tubby Smith his one National Championship. Delk also won the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament Award that season. Just behind Tony Delk with 38 career three-pointers are Jeff Fryer of Loyola Marymount who played from 1988 - 1990 and Donald Williams of North Carolina from 1992 - 1995. Rounding out the list is Scotty Thurman, the tree point specialist that helped the Arkansas Razorbacks go to back to back NCAA Tournament Championship games.

Only one of those five players is in the top five in three-pointers made in a single NCAA Tournament game though. The one that did make the list was Jeff Fryer of Loyola Marymount. Fryer's 11 three-pointers against Michigan in 1990 are a large reason he is on the all-time list.

In the 1987 NCAA Tournament Garde Thompson made 9 three-pointers against Navy but he was out-done in the same NCAA Tournament by Freddie Banks who made 10 three-pointers against Indiana. Rounding out the top five were Johnny Miller who made 9 three-pointers against Cincinnati in 1995 and Johnny Hemsley who knocked down 9 three-pointers for Lafayette.

  • Lee Humphrey holds the record for most career three-pointers in NCAA Tournament History.
  • Glen Rice holds the record for most three-pointers made in a single NCAA Tournament.
  • Jeff Fryer holds the record for most-three pointers in a single NCAA Tournament game.
