The Wii has become immensely popular due to its innovation with the standard remote control. Wireless, as the standard now requires, players use the Wii-mote as virtually anything that is needed in th
e game. A rifle, a sword, a bat, a cooking pan and a brush are just a few of the items that it is used to manipulate. However, not every game released for the Wii functions well with the Wii-mote and to help gamers with these games, Nintendo has released the Wii Classic Controller. This controller is designed to function as previous generation controllers would, featuring shoulder buttons, two analog controls, and the usual four button layout.

It does feel a bit odd taking a step back a generation once the controller is in your hands, but there's no denying that it completes the nostalgia feel when you're playing NES and Nintendo 64 games. Playing the original Zelda titles and other classics on older platforms just doesn't feel right with the Wii mote and at times it can become somewhat frustrating if you aren't able to adjust easily. At only $19.99, the Classic controller is the perfect remedy to these control issues. The classic controller also works with Gamecube games for those who don't already have the Gamecube controllers. For those who hadn't already had a Gamecube, the controller is perfect as it is reminiscent of the Super Nintendo and Sony's Dual Shock controller in terms of comfort and ease to use.

The only real problems with the controller are that it is not wireless and it doesn't work with every Wii game. The lack of wireless functionality will only become a problem for gamers who like to move around while they play, while those who are capable of sitting in one spot won't be bothered much. Since the controller was designed to work with classic games and Gamecube games, it's no surprise that it doesn't function with every Wii game on the market. However, it's also annoying for games that would do well without the Wii's standard controller. Games such as Splinter Cell and Far Cry simply don't function well with the Wiimote.

classic controllers dont work with gamecube games, and that makes no sense. It has enough buttons, and the shoulder buttons press down like gamecube shoulder buttons.
